About us

The Melbourne Information, Decision and Autonomous Systems research group – or MIDAS – provides an umbrella for diverse, cross-disciplinary projects at the forefront of autonomous systems research.

Our technological advances in automation, control systems, analytics, machine learning and system optimisation are applied in robotics, in single systems and in complex distributed multi-system networks or swarms. This work also encompasses the biophysical interfaces between autonomous systems and people, to enhance their physical and cognitive performance.

Agriculture, defence, energy and biomedical spheres are our main focus areas for research and industry applications.
