AI and Autonomy Lab
The A.I. and Autonomy Lab is based in the Department of Computing and Information Systems. We develop innovative approaches to high-level cognitive reasoning, such as performing collaborative tasks, assessing the cognitive states of other agents, and human-agent interaction. Our methods are being applied in areas such as scheduling in mine operations, disaster management, and health.
Control and Signal Processing (CSP) Lab
Control and signal processing is ubiquitous. It is ‘under the hood’ of myriad devices from mobile telephones to power grids. A significant fraction of the lab’s research is devoted to furthering the mathematical foundations of systems theory, automatic control and signal processing.
Melbourne Robotics Laboratory
The Melbourne Robotics Laboratory conducts fundamental research in robotics manipulation strategies. Our investigations often centre on the use of robotics in collaboration with a human user or subject. The application of such strategies is expected to yield a level of performance that is higher than that achievable by human performance only or robotic performance only.
Melbourne Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Platform (MUASIP)
With experts in mechanical engineering, remote sensing, image/signal processing, precision agriculture, ecosystem and infrastructure monitoring, the University of Melbourne has a unique institutional capability to conduct leading edge Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) research. The Melbourne Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Platform (MUASIP) provides academic and professional services and training to internal University users as well as external partners, with the aim to facilitate collaborations and to trigger innovations in UAS development and its applications.
Spatial@Melbourne
The University of Melbourne is home to an enormous collective expertise in spatial information, ranging from sensing through data management, analysis, decision making and visualisation and application. The Spatial@Melbourne initiative brings the groups and individuals at the University of Melbourne active in spatial research, teaching and engagement together in this virtual home.
